Eight years of Denmark in 120 layflat pages. A thank-you letter to the place that became home.

Kære Danmark means Dear Denmark. I came here for a while, and eight years later I'm still here. Somewhere along the way the country stopped being a place I was visiting and became where I live. This book is my way of saying thank you.

There are no people from my life in it, only places. Mostly Copenhagen, then the coast north of the city, the fields and the dunes further out. The photographs follow the order in which things happened: the postcard version first, then taking the long way round, then ordinary weekdays, the dark months, and finally the spring I called it home without correcting myself. There are five short chapters, each opening with one line in Danish and English. After that it's photographs, with space around them.

Questions, answered

  • The first edition of a 120-page layflat photobook, published in October 2026. It's an open edition with no numbering and no certificate. Each copy is printed when it's ordered, so there's no stock sitting in a warehouse.

  • A short letter to Denmark, then five chapters: First sight, Getting to know you, Everyday, The dark months, and Home. Many photographs run across both pages.

  • Because so many of the pictures cross the middle of the book. I didn't want a fold running through a horizon.

  • The standard edition goes to print once you order and usually arrives within one to two weeks in Europe. For the signed edition, the copy comes to me in Copenhagen first and I post it to you myself, so allow around three weeks.

  • Yes. Choose the signed edition. If you'd like a dedication, write the name and a few words in the note at checkout.

  • I think so, especially for someone who has lived in Denmark, is about to move here, or has left and misses it.

  • Shipping is calculated at checkout based on where you are. If anything arrives damaged or wrong, email me within 14 days of delivery and I'll replace it or refund you.

  • Not on the pages. I wanted the book to read as one long walk and not as a guide. If you'd like to know where something was taken, write to me and I'll tell you.
